Working on your own bicycle is more fun than you think.  With proper tools, you can do all the repair and maintenance yourself and never have to pay a bike shop $80+ for just a small tune up.

Got this Schwinn Mesa GSX a few month ago, it’s a little beatup when I first got it, wheels are untrue, brakes stuck, crankset is messed up and all the cables are worn out, apparently previous owner didn’t take care of this gem.  With a little tune up done, this bike is actually more than capable to hit any trail or road.  Revived it and set it up just in time for the Spring commute!  Total cost is about $350.  A bike with similar groupset runs easily over $1000.
