construction

One of the major improvement in city of Nanjing is the construction of the subway, the government decided to add an additional line to the already super beneficial first line to improve the flow of the crowed and avoid the ever increasing traffic on the ground.  The city now facing the problem of not only too many people, but too many people with their own private passenger cars that put significant amount of stress in the city traffic.

China ChuZhou LangYa Mountain Temple Fair

The fair is held once every year in spring time.  Hundreds of thousands of people come to celebrate and enjoy live performances and to pay their respect to Buddha.  Order, cleanness, and trash are always issues at major events in China, as you can see from a lot of photos…

Hit thumbnails for more photos from the fair.

Night, Shanghai

Shanghai is a very populated and busy city.  The Nanjing Road, is probably 10x more busy than the Times Square in NYC, especially during weekends and holidays. Click thumbnails for larger view.

Wiredup Kid In Shanghai Begging

I saw this poor kid wired himself up using 2 steel wires around his chest begging for money in one of the most busiest area in shanghai.  A lot of times, beggers in China, especially the young ones, are often controled by some sort of “boss”, they persuade the kids parents that they are going to the city to “make money” and usually end up been used for money.  The “boss” use and monitor poor kids from a distance, and if they don’t perform well or make any money from begging, the kid usually gets beaten.

Pig Killing

The rural area still remain the most interest to me. Compare and contrast the extremly busy city life to the slowly developing peace and quiet rural areas of China, the difference is significant. I’ll go straight to photos from couple days ago’s visit to China.

The dogs for the most part, remains unfriendly to strangers, and will yell and follow you for quite sometime.  This one is very curious when we walked pass by.

_dsc1921
I am lucky enough to join a pig slaughtering event in the village.  Because it’s close to Chinese new years, every year the pig’s owner would kill the pig and sell all it’s parts to people to take home to make their new year’s dish.  It’s pity I missed the actual event when they have to kill the live pig and burn all his black hair out in the bathtub that’s made for the pig.  I have omitted a lot of graphical contents but have included a few just for reference.

The guy is cleaning the pig’s internal organs to be sold for food.

The pig’s head is still in the tub, it will later be taken out and beat with a hard stone to knock out tough hairs around it’s eyebrows and in its ears

After the job is done, the guy who helped kill the pig is ready to leave on his tractor in a haste.
