Snapshots from my trip to China a few months ago. Everything was photographed with a 40mm pancake lens that I took with me during my travel.

Shanghai is a very populated and busy city.  The Nanjing Road, is probably 10x more busy than the Times Square in NYC, especially during weekends and holidays. Click thumbnails for larger view.

I saw this poor kid wired himself up using 2 steel wires around his chest begging for money in one of the most busiest area in shanghai.  A lot of times, beggers in China, especially the young ones, are often controled by some sort of “boss”, they persuade the kids parents that they are going to the city to “make money” and usually end up been used for money.  The “boss” use and monitor poor kids from a distance, and if they don’t perform well or make any money from begging, the kid usually gets beaten.
